As a part of our membership in the New Orleans Kids Partnership, HandsOn New Orleans is deepening our commitment to engaging youth in service. We provide service activities for youth in New Orleans, grades K-12. Young people interested in service can connect to youth-friendly projects through our Online Project Calendar.
We also encourage youth to take on leadership roles in their community by participating in our Volunteer Leader Program. Youth leaders identify service needs in their schools and communities, recruit volunteers, and plan and lead their own service projects.
For those interested in becoming Youth Leaders, HandsOn can provide:
-Training in Volunteer Management and Project Planning
-Resources and Guidance
-Tools and Equipment
-Volunteer Recruitment
-Skilled Labor Recruitment
HandsOn New Orleans also participates in Global Youth Service Day, the largest annual youth service event in the world. This event takes place every March and mobilizes hundreds of youth from across the city to participate in community service. Read about HandsOn's activities for Global Youth Service Day 2009.
Volunteering is more than just a way to get your required service hours; it’s a chance to learn valuable work and leadership skills, and make a tangible difference in your community.
